The Clovis North Education Center English Language Arts (ELA) program offers students a cohesive seventh through twelfth grade learning experience. Students in grades seven and eight receive ELA instruction through their Academic Block classes. Retaining their Academic Block teachers for both seventh and eighth grades provides all students a seamless and connected learning experience. Students in grades 9 and 10 may elect to enroll in English 9 or English 9 Honors and English 10 or English 10 Honors (during grades 9 and 10, respectively). A teacher recommendation is required for placement in honors courses. Eleventh grade students may choose from English 11 and AP Language and Composition. A teacher recommendation is required for placement in AP Language and Composition. Twelfth grade students may choose from Expository Reading and Writing Course (ERWC), Bible as Literature, and AP Literature and Composition. The ERWC course is designed to prepare students to meet the demands of college writing across all subject areas and to prepare students to take the English Placement Test in the spring. Teacher recommendation is required for placement in AP Literature and Composition.
