If you are planning on applying for the Smittcamp Family Honors College at CSU Fresno, it is imperative that you complete the application for Fresno State on www.csumentor.org no later than November 30, 2016. It is highly recommended that you complete the CSU application prior to this date. Once you apply to the college, they will give you an ID number that you must have to complete the scholarship application. This can take up to three weeks, so it is important that you allow yourself time to receive the ID number in time to complete the scholarship application through http://www.fresnostate.edu/academics/honors/application/ by the DECEMBER 8, 2016 deadline. If you need further information, you can register for an upcoming webinar on October 27th through the same link.
If you have any questions, please contact your counselor.
To apply for financial aid, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will need to be completed. The application opens on October 1st and the deadline is March 2nd . Please visit the FAFSA website, http://www.fafsa.ed.gov to apply.
You can file your FAFSA starting October but you can apply for a FSA ID number NOW. Both the student and ONE parent need to apply for FSA ID number. If you haven’t already, please visit the FAFSA website, https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm, to apply for a FSA ID. Your FSA ID can be used each year to electronically apply for federal student aid and to access your Federal Student Aid records online.
The FSA ID process consists of three main steps:
1. Enter your login information.
Provide your e-mail address, a unique username and password, and verify that you are at least 13 years old.
2. Enter your personal information.
Provide your Social Security number, name, and date of birth.
Include your mailing address, telephone number, and language preference.
For security purposes, provide answers to five challenge questions.
3. Submit your FSA ID information.
Agree to the terms and conditions.
Verify your e-mail address. (This is optional, but helpful.) By verifying your e-mail address, you can use it as your username when logging into certain Federal Student Aid Web sites.
NOTE: Remember do not share your FSA ID with anyone. The security of your FSA ID is important because it can be used to electronically sign Federal Student Aid documents, access your personal records, and make binding legal obligations.
Cal Grant Awards are free money provided by the State of California to help pay for the cost of college. If you have a graduating high school senior, who meets academic, financial and eligibility requirements, your child may qualify to receive a Cal Grant. Cal Grant applicants must also file the FAFSA or California Dream Act application between October 1 and March 2, 2017.
Clovis Unified will electronically submit your CAL GRANT GPA verification for every senior in the district to the California Student Aid Commission so they may be considered for a Cal Grant award, but you must submit your own FAFSA.
If you DO NOT wish to have your student’s information submitted electronically, please see your child’s counselor for more information no later than Friday, November 18, 2016. If not received, your information will be uploaded (California Code of Education 60604) on or before February 1, 2017.
